The Satellaview or BS-X (Broadcast Satellaview X) was an accessory released only in Japan for the Super Famicom (known as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in other countries) that allowed players to connect to St. GIGA and download news and games from 4-7PM. Some games were only playable during a certain time, while other games could be saved to either the BS-X itself or a small memory cart inserted into the BS-X Cassette (a cartridge that looked like a Super Game Boy). The service was supported from 1995 until 2000, and featured games from popular Nintendo franchises like Zelda, Mario, Fire Emblem and Kirby. The Satellaview sold for about $145 or 14,000 yen.
